Of all the justices to serve on the Supreme Court, few have left larger imprints on the Court’s judicial policy and its evolving demography than Louis Brandeis, Thurgood Marshall, and Sandra Day O’Connor. This talk will examine the milestone appointments and these three groundbreaking justices, including their legacies and how each helped to shape the future direction of the Court and contemporary public policy. Patrick C. Wohlfarth holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from UNC Chapel Hill. His research and teaching interests include American politics with a focus on judicial politics and interinstitutional politics.
